What are the signs and symptoms of the injury?

The signs and symptoms of a broken or dislocated jaw include:

  • pain occurring anywhere along the jawline from the ear, to the point of the chin, back to the other ear
  • drooling
  • difficulty speaking
  • inability to open or close the mouth
  • teeth not fitting together properly
  • protruding jaw
  • numbness
  • swelling
  • bruising
  • loose or missing teeth
