Dental Caries | Symptoms & Signs | Diagnosis & Tests | Prevention & Expectations | Treatment & Monitoring

What are the signs and symptoms of the disease?

In most cases there is tooth sensitivity to sweet foods and hot and cold food or drinks. If a tooth is sensitive to heat, it frequently requires a root canal.

There may be no symptoms until a cavity becomes very large or a tooth abscess forms. An abscess can cause pain, swelling, and fever.
