Encainide produces its helpful effects by slowing nerve impulses in the
heart and making the heart tissue less sensitive.
There is a chance that encainide may cause new heart rhythm problems when
it is used. Since it has been shown to cause severe problems in some patients,
it is only used to treat serious heart rhythm problems. Discuss this possible
