Additional InformationOnce a medicine has been approved for marketing for a certain use, experience
may show that it is also useful for other medical problems. Although this
use is not included in product labeling, regular insulin is used in certain
patients:

To treat high blood sugar (hyperglycemia) in low birth weight infants.

To test for growth hormone deficiency

To prevent complications of diabetes, including eye problems (retinopathy),
kidney disease (nephropathy), and nerve damage (neuropathy)
