Proper Use of This MedicineTo use the
nasal ointment

First, wash your hands.

Apply approximately 1/2 of the ointment from the single-use tube
directly from the tube into one nostril. Then apply the remainder of the ointment
directly into the other nostril.

Close your nostrils by pressing the sides of the nose together and
then releasing them. Do this over and over again for approximately one minute.
You may also press the sides of the nose together and gently massage the nose.
These methods will help spread the medicine throughout the inside of the nostrils.

Discard the tube after using. The tube only has enough medicine for
one dose in each nostril.

Be careful not to touch your eyes.

Immediately after using the nose ointment, wash your hands to remove
any medicine that may be on them.
Dosing - The dose of nasal mupirocin will be different
for different patients. Follow your doctor's orders or
the directions on the label
. The following information includes only
the average doses of nasal mupirocin. If your dose is
different, do not change it
unless your doctor tells you to do so.

dosage form (nasal ointment):

To kill Staphylococcus aureus
(�staph�)
bacteria in the nose:

Adults and children 12 years of age and older - Approximately
1/2 of the ointment from a single-use tube squeezed into each nostril two
times a day (morning and evening) for five days.

Children less than 12 years of age - Use and dose must be determined
by your doctor.
Missed dose - If you miss a dose of this medicine, use it as
soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the
missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage - To store this medicine:

Keep out of the reach of children.

Store away from heat and direct light.

Do not store in the bathroom, near the kitchen sink, or in other
damp places. Heat or moisture may cause the medicine to break down.

Keep the medicine from freezing. Do not refrigerate.

Do not keep outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed. Be sure
that any discarded medicine is out of the reach of children.
