What are the signs and symptoms of the disease?

Huntington disease may cause:

  • clumsiness
  • chorea, which refers to fidgety, random, or involuntary movements
  • an unusual style of walking, which is often unsteady
  • difficulty speaking
  • difficulty swallowing
  • personality changes and withdrawal from social activities
  • paranoia, hallucinations, psychosis, or depression
  • memory loss
  • poor decision making
