Bone loss produces few symptoms but leads to reduced bone strength. Symptoms that may occur late in the disease include:

bone fracture, sometimes without any falling or trauma to the area

bone pain or tenderness

dentures that do not fit as well as they did before

kyphosis, a bending forward of the spine that creates a curvature known as dowager's hump

loss of height
