Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia | Symptoms & Signs | Diagnosis & Tests | Prevention & Expectations | Treatment & Monitoring

What are the signs and symptoms of the disease?

Many times, CLL causes no symptoms and is found only when a routine blood sample is checked. However, the cancerous cells may cause the following symptoms:

  • anemia, or a low red blood cell count
  • bleeding problems due to poorly working blood clotting cells, called platelets
  • loss of normal white blood cell function, which increases the risk of infection
  • a need for red blood cell transfusions
