What are the signs and symptoms of the condition?

A person who is constipated may have:

  • infrequent bowel movements
  • hard stools
  • difficulty passing stool
  • pain passing stool
  • a feeling that the bowel is not completely empty
  • a bloated feeling after eating
  • headaches
