What are the signs and symptoms of the condition?

Following are some of the symptoms of a deep venous thrombosis:

  • pain, usually in the calf or thigh
  • a so-called rope or cord that can be felt in the vein along the course of the blood clot
  • swelling, usually in one leg
  • warm, reddened skin, usually in the calf or thigh, that is tender to the touch
