What are the signs and symptoms of the condition?

A person who is delirious:

  • cannot stay focused on what is going on around him or her
  • may be confused about time, place, or people
  • may be unable to identify friends or family
  • may have scattered and flawed thinking
  • may ramble or use garbled speech
  • The person could have:

  • hallucinations
  • memory impairment
  • a reduced level of consciousness
  • sleep problems
