How is the condition diagnosed?

Diagnosis of hydrocephalus begins with a medical history and physical exam. The healthcare provider may order tests, including:

  • cranial CT scan
  • cranial MRI
  • measurement of intracranial pressure, or pressure inside the head
  • pregnancy ultrasound
