Mastoidectomy | Preparation & Expectations | Home Care and Complications

What happens later at home?

After surgery, it is important to keep water out of the ear canal. Antibiotics or pain medicines may be ordered. Eardrops may be used to keep the ear canal moist, which can help in the healing process.

What are the potential complications after the procedure?

Complications are rare but may include nerve damage to the face, dizziness, hearing impairment, taste disturbance, and infection. Any new or worsening symptoms should be reported to the healthcare provider.
