Side Effects of This Medicine

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

    More common

      Difficulty in breathing and swallowing; hives; itching, especially of feet or hands; reddening of skin, especially around ears; swelling of eyes, face, or inside of nose; unusual tiredness or weakness, sudden and severe

Approximately 7 to 14 days after you stop receiving sea snake antivenin, you may develop symptoms of serum sickness. The severity of the symptoms and the length of time the sickness lasts depends on the amount of sea snake antivenin you received and how long you received it. Check with your doctor if you notice any of the following side effects:

Fever; redness of joints; skin rash and itching; swollen glands

Other side effects not listed above may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your doctor.
