What are the signs and symptoms of the condition?
The symptoms of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy can be absent, mild, or severe. Sometimes, sudden death occurs in a person with no history of symptoms. More commonly, the following symptoms occur, usually during or shortly after exercise:
chest pain
shortness of breath
fatigue
fainting, or feeling as though one is going to faint
palpitations, an unusual awareness of the heartbeat, which may be unusually fast, hard, or irregular
