of the heart, or to control the rate and rhythm of the heartbeat. This leads
to better blood circulation and reduced swelling of hands and ankles in patients
with heart problems.
Although digitalis has been prescribed to help some patients lose weight,
it should
never
be used in this way. When used
improperly, digitalis can cause serious problems.
