How is the condition diagnosed?

A medical history and pelvic examination will help to determine the cause of dyspareunia. The following tests or procedures may be used:

  • visual inspection and touching of the reproductive organs.
  • cervical cultures to rule out infections.
  • ultrasound.
  • laparoscopy.
